Flight Simulator Redesign

Binghamton University, Capstone Design Project

For my capstone design project, I led a multidisciplinary team of 6 engineering students to redesign a flight simulator at a local children's museum under the sponsorship of Lockheed Martin. In addition to redesigning the broken flight simulator, we were also tasked with designing and building a "Sensor Operator Station" which would allow children to play educational games and learn the basics of flight.

As a mechanical engineer, I spent most of my time designing housing for the simulator and learning station, based on ergonomics and tipping forces to ensure users of varying ages would not be injured. I also worked with my fellow mechanical engineer to select more robust electronics and build the physical structures once the design process was complete.

The project's final design report can be read here, and the final presentation can be viewed here.
